THE TUCSON HOME
We purchased a partially renovated home. A realtor was flipping the house and decided to cut corners to do so. We had to have an imagination when we walked in and saw the teal colored and yellow cornflower paint throughout the entire house. The home was built in 1996, and belonged to a hoarder prior to it getting a little bit of a makeover. The front door was the original. The paint outside original and a water feature out back that was broken. This is a 2 bedroom 2700 sq ft home, all on one level.
We focused on immediate projects that would have the most lasting impact…
Painting the entire interior
"Pointing" by Farrow and Ball- my favorite of white color, and adding plantation shutters throughout the entire house.Installing a new front door
The front door is one of the most important aesthetics as you approach a home. To me, its the statement piece. We immediately sought a vendor for a steel French door, and changed out the 1996 original door, and a metal entry gate, to compliment the front door.

Furnishings & Accessories
I then began immediately furnishing the house with colors of the mountains right out our front door, soft pinks, greens, desert clay, and artwork that completed the desert area. The hardwood floors are almost an ebony so to lighten up the floors I threw area vintage carpets and rugs through the entire house.
In the dining and kitchen areas I added lighting in both, a bit of boho chic and mid-century modern pieces, which is really the essence of the entire house, from artwork on the walls to accessories throughout the house.

EXTERIOR
The outside of the house was the original paint, a dull yellow. We wanted a more modern look and I knew more of a Santa Barbara white outside would really elevate the look, then painted the garage door a dark chocolate brown to match the trim of the house and front door/gate.
The biggest project was the pool, which took almost 16 months to complete due to the fact that we were there part time. We learned over time that when you aren't a full time residence, things get done at a much slower pace. I selected the look and feel of the pool as well as the Spanish tiles that surround the pool. We wanted several places to entertain: a fire pit area off to the north side of the pool, a dining area to the south side of the pool, and a gathering place for coffee or drinks underneath the outdoor roof.
Landscaping was a fun journey in learning the various desert plants that would work in the back yard and front yard, based on how much sun both sides get during the day. We took out some flowering trees and plants that were in the back as we didn't want the pool to be a complete mess. I selected hardscape that has some color throughout the year, but specifically plants that do not drop there flowers. The outside wall surrounding the pool was originally just the concrete cinder block look. We had them plaster over that all to make it look more like slab, and painted that the color of the house as well.
